I hope you all had a wonderful summer with family and friends, and many moments that brought you happiness. We were very excited to welcome all students today and it is great to have everyone together again – the campus was alive with energy. One of the joys of being in a school is seeing how students grow … and they grow so much over the summer!
This week, we welcome new students and families from around the world, each bringing unique experiences, insights, and perspectives. A new school year gives us a chance to reconnect with each other and support our new students, staff and families as they settle into our YIS community. It can also be a time to reflect on what Live Learn Lead and our Values mean, both personally and collectively, as we build and share our stories together and create our pathways.
As our students settle into school with the support of a caring community, there is also a lot of support and connections for the adults. The PTSA will be offering many opportunities in the weeks ahead for parents to connect with each other, with the school, and with our wider community. I would encourage you to join the activities and opportunities from the PTSA and the school so you can get to know more about YIS and each other.
What I truly appreciate at YIS is the space, care and support our students have to grow and develop as people, learners and members of a wider community. The beauty, and challenge, of being a student is you are able to spend time exploring who you want to be and what is possible. I think our YIS students inspire our adults to do the same.
