With my wife and our 3 kids, we truly cherish having being part of the warm and vibrant community here at YIS for last nearly 3 years. As the winter chill gives way to greener scenery, we’ve enjoyed spending more time outdoors like a recent trip across Tochigi and Yamagata including getting to know a beautiful spot called Ginzan and a final ski trip in Zao Onsen.
In my role as Treasurer, I work closely with the School Leadership and other BoD members to provide financial oversight with focus on a careful balance: making sound decisions that ensure our long-term stability while continuing to invest in the best possible learning environment for our students.
Given my background in technology and AI transformation, I have also been supporting discussions on how Tech and AI can continue empowering our students in and for a rapidly changing world. It was a privilege to participate in the AIFE 2026 (AI for Education) event hosted by YIS in April. It was great to see YIS playing such a leading role in Japan in a topic that is posed to change education in fundamental ways.
It has only been four months since the AGM election, but the intensity and pace of collaboration with the Board have made it feel like it is much longer! The combination of YIS’s fantastic history and our great and supportive community of parents, teachers, staffing and alumni will shape our school’s next 100 years. And that makes me incredibly optimistic and excited about what lies ahead for our children and YIS.
