For over 100 years, YIS has been a community-based school and we appreciate that parents take a strong interest in the approaches that we use to ensure all students receive a world-class educational experience. With this in mind, it is our pleasure to invite parents to join us for some upcoming events.

What happens when you take eight middle and high school students on a road trip across Europe to meet with leaders and seek solutions to the climate crisis? This award-winning film explores the bold journey of young changemakers as they work with big business to shape a better world. You can watch the trailer here. Aligning seamlessly with our commitment to service, we invite parents to attend this private screening at YIS – why not come as a family and bring your children (suggested ages Gr. 4 – Gr. 12)? Tickets are on sale now and are priced at the minimum level to cover the cost of hosting the viewing.
ReimaginED (6 – 8 March): ReimaginED is an event that is dedicated to exploring emerging futures of education. It will feature guest speakers from the OECD, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Melbourne. If you have an interest in education innovations (and can handle spending a weekend with a group of teachers) then we encourage you to join us and register here.
Compassionate Systems Framework (9 – 11 March): Following ReimaginED, it is our pleasure to host Dr. Mette Böll (in-person) and Dr. Peter Senge (virtual) as they facilitate the introductory workshop for the Compassionate Systems Framework. What is the Compassionate Systems Framework? This video explains it well. The Compassionate Systems Framework incorporates learning tools, developed over several decades, from the diverse fields of living systems change, organizational learning and systems dynamics, contemplative traditions, neuroscience and social and emotional learning. This framework is now being used at both the level of classroom innovations in schools and education systems around the world, as well as for governance, healthcare and diverse organizational settings supporting collective leadership in shaping a more generative culture.
This is a workshop that all members of the YIS community are invited to. Additionally, any YIS parents that register for the workshop will also be invited to an exclusive, in-person meeting with Dr. Peter Senge when he comes to visit YIS in February.
