By Carla Marschall, Head of School
YIS is a learning organization that is continually evolving and responding to complex demands in the world. A periodic review of our Impact Strategy is essential to ensure that YIS continues to meet the needs of students, families, and the wider community. Updating our strategy should not be a transactional exercise, but rather one where we engage in community conversations about what we wish to maintain and improve to support student learning and wellbeing. Likewise, such conversations provide the opportunity to step back and reconsider our fundamental assumptions about the role of education in the world today.

For example, we might ask ourselves: How relevant is our educational offering given the rapid changes we are currently witnessing? What mindsets or mental models might we need to adjust to effectively address any areas of development?
Through this deeper level of reflection, YIS can determine whether its current Impact Strategy still aligns with its mission, vision, values and community needs. However, we cannot do this work alone. We require your voices. Your perspectives can help us test our assumptions, identify emerging needs, and ensure that future plans reflect the ideas of the community it serves. It is with this in mind that we cordially invite you to take part in one of two strategic feedback sessions.

In April, we will host two parent workshops to share the key themes emerging from the my Head of School community listening activities and to invite input as YIS begins shaping its next Impact Strategy for the coming 3–5 years:
- Tuesday, April 14 | 8:30–9:45 AM | Momiji/Sakura
- Tuesday, April 21 | 8:30–9:45 AM | Momiji/Sakura
Each session will include a short presentation followed by small group discussions where parents can share ideas and perspectives to help guide the school’s strategic direction.
If you’d like to attend, please fill out the form here. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions about how we can move forward over the next few years.
