As you know, YIS supports multilingualism and promotes inclusion. We believe that our community is enriched by the diverse languages and cultures of our families. We also agree with philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein’s statement that “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” The stronger our language skills, the more we can understand and derive meaning from the world around us. Today, we have some exciting news to share with you related to this.
We are pleased to publish the first edition of the YIS Express in both English and Japanese! This change will enable us to strengthen family engagement and support home-school partnerships, while showing respect for our host country. By offering information in both languages, we hope to increase access to school events and further connect our community.
As this is a new development, we will start with providing English and Japanese versions of the YIS Express; other school communications will remain in English for the present time.
