By Anthony Martinez, Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Starting in September 2026, YIS students will have the opportunity to take part in a new Marketing & Communications Internship designed to provide authentic, hands-on experience in creative media, storytelling, digital communications and more.
Based within the YIS Marketing & Communications Department, the internship gives students the chance to contribute to real projects that support the school community while developing practical and portfolio-ready skills. Over the course of four to five months, interns will work alongside Advancement Coordinator Jonah Reynolds and myself on tasks connected to photography, videography, graphic design, copywriting, social media, web content, writing and more.

The program is designed for students who are curious about creative industries, media production, communications, marketing, or digital storytelling. Interns will gain experience with professional workflows, collaborative projects, and creative problem-solving while building confidence in both technical and interpersonal skills.
Throughout the internship, students may photograph student life and school events, draft social media content, edit and organize photography, design graphics, support major school initiatives, produce videos, and contribute written content for YIS platforms. Students will also create a portfolio of work and engage in guided reflection throughout the experience.
The internship combines creative skill development with workplace learning. Students will receive mentorship, feedback, and training in industry-relevant platforms and applications while learning about communication strategy, planning, collaboration, and professional expectations.

The program will run from September 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027. Students will participate for approximately two periods per week, with some additional event-based or after-school opportunities depending on project needs. Internship participation is unpaid and intended solely as a school-supported learning experience. At the conclusion of the internship, students will receive a certificate of completion signed by the Head of School.
The application and additional information will be shared soon. Students interested in creativity and problem-solving – media, design, storytelling, communications, or technology are encouraged to apply!
