Elementary School Read-A-Thon

By The HS Library Council

The High School Library Council is currently hosting the ‘Read-A-Thon’ (April 8-27) for Elementary School (Kindergarten – 5th Grade)

The Read-A-Thon, in structure, is similar to a charity marathon or walk-a-thon. Each student will need at least one sponsor (parents, family, neighbors, etc), where these sponsors pledge a certain amount of money for every 10-20 minutes read (dependent on grade level). Of course, donations are purely voluntary.

All proceeds from this event will go to support ‘Room to Read’, a non-profit organization that works to improve the literacy of disadvantaged children around Asia and Africa by providing subsidised resources and educational programs.

The homeroom that records the most minutes read cumulatively will get to choose a book we donate to the library, which will have their names and a message of their choice inscribed on it as a symbol for the impact students made towards helping better the lives of marginalised children.

If you do have any questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected].
