By Carla Marschall, Head of School
Over the past few months, students, teachers, parents and Board members have been engaged in co-visioning activities to enable us to reflect on our direction as a school and what might be included in an updated Impact Strategy.

With students and parents, we had two workshops on the 14th and 21st of April to think about our “aspirational iceberg” as a school: the events, patterns of behavior, mental models and artefacts that would underpin our best possible future. It was wonderful to see students acting as scribes and parents as active listeners, who asked questions about the student experience and school and how we can make this event better. We have also sent out the CIS Community survey, which is another tool that enables us to hear your thoughts and determine needs, aspirations and challenges.
We are now in the process of looking at key themes and patterns from across this data to locate emerging insights. This will allow us to clarify shared priorities and opportunities. Of course, no updated strategy can exist in a vacuum. We are currently living through a complex time, where technological, socio-cultural, and environmental forces are changing some of the ways humans connect and create knowledge. It will be key that our updated Impact Strategy reflects our awareness of these drivers of change, while focusing resolutely on student learning and wellbeing.

In May, we will move toward finalizing our updated Impact Strategy and define what this means for our next academic year. We will be holding a PTSA Community Circle in June for families to learn more about our process and work. This will be held on Wednesday, June 3rd from 8:30am. We hope to see many of you there in person!
Thank you for your ongoing engagement and all your contributions. It is what makes this process meaningful and grounded in our community.
