Jay Brownrigg, Summer School Director
This June, the YIS campus will transform into a hub of innovation, inquiry, and movement. We are thrilled to announce the launch of YIS Summer School 2026: Explore, Create, Connect, running from Monday, June 22nd to Friday, July 3rd.

Evolving with Our Community
At YIS, we believe that the best programs are built through collaboration. This year’s Summer School is the direct result of listening to feedback from our students and parents. You asked for more specialized choices, deeper engagement for older students, and expanded language opportunities—and we have delivered.
We are particularly excited to introduce two new language-focused pathways this year. For our younger learners, a Japanese Immersion stream for Grades 4 and 5 allows fluent speakers to explore complex themes entirely in Japanese. Meanwhile, our Middle School Japanese Lang B course offers a creative approach to language acquisition, allowing students to strengthen their literacy and communication skills through the study of Japanese song, dance, and cultural traditions.

Sparking Curiosity in the Elementary School
Our ES program continues to celebrate the “whole child” through a transdisciplinary, play-based approach. We focus on balancing core literacy and numeracy inquiry with hands-on “Maker Hours,” artistic expression, and social-emotional growth, ensuring students stay curious and prepared for the school year ahead.
Middle & High School: The “Deep Dive” Revolution
For our MS and HS students, we have moved away from traditional rotations and toward a think-tank and studio model. We’ve redesigned these programs to feel like professional creative labs where students take ownership of their learning. From masterclasses in digital creation and social entrepreneurship to strategic thinking in competitive gaming, students can choose “Deep Dives” that match their personal passions and future goals.

Active Bodies, Active Minds
Beyond the classroom, our popular Dragons Sports Camps return, offering specialized coaching in basketball and soccer. We are also introducing a new Learn to Swim program specifically for older students, designed to build foundational water safety and confidence for those new to the pool.
