Below are our current teaching and administrative opportunities. To maintain our high standards of learning, all teaching applicants must hold a university degree, recognized teaching qualification, and at least three years of post-qualification experience.
For administrative and support positions, relevant experience in an international school or similar educational setting is highly valued. We welcome a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives as part of our commitment to a diverse, inclusive community.
Applicants for substitute teaching must presently reside in Japan. Please note this is not a full-time position within the school. Substitute teachers are employed on a daily or half day basis as required when a teacher is absent. All applicants must hold recognized teaching qualifications and will have to comply with background and reference checks in line with our Child Safeguarding Practices. The school may help applicants obtain a work permit if he or she holds a dependent visa.

We are seeking a person with qualifications, experience, and understanding in providing social and emotional support for our high school students with the additional skill set of future planning that seeks to help each student find their path, including university counselling.
The social and emotional support of our students is key to their academic success. A large part of the role is to pre-empt and prepare students for the complexities of teenage life and the independence needed as they move into adulthood. Our counselling team develops and teaches the Wellness program in Grades 9-10 and are key partners in the weekly advisory program across all grade levels.
In addition, as a member of the future planning team, the successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the university application process and the importance of “best fit” for each YIS student. This should be supported by an in-depth knowledge of universities around the world along with an awareness of the needs of our international and local students and parents while guiding them through the application process. The ability to understand, connect, and communicate with all levels and members of our community is essential to the success of this position.
